I wanna learn how to play tenors but i have questions about practicing.

Is it better to practice on a tenor pad or actual tenors?

I don't think anything can be better then the actual instrument. But if you don't have access to one, then use the next best... a practice pad.

Hey I was going to play tenors this year but my line needs a snare more but to practice get a pad and the book quad logic by Bill Bachman this will get you started on tenors.

Exactly, I agree with that. Bill Bachman is the god of tenors. His tips will help you big time. He has a lot of vid's on youtube as well. I watched them and it increased my playing abilities dramaticly. But as for practice pads to actual thing, the actual thing is way better, but if you can't get on the actual thing a practice pad will have to do. But there is just enough difference between a pad and the actual thing that it does have a bit of effect on your playing..not a lot but just enough for you to notice.

From what I've looked at the Quad Logic book I'd say it's pretty good! There's another book, that's more of a stick control type of book, but it's like the Percussion Bible, so my teacher says. I'm auditioning on quads for my line this year, and I'm gonna pick up Quad Logic this week =D Now to get my friend to give me his 2nd set of quads that are needing to be fixed up....

I heard of that and I'm getting one soon. But, where can i find a stand for it and it can be played with tenor mallets right?

    I think it's got a built-in stand.

hey stokes! good luck with the auditions! i am marching tenors for my schools drumline this year, i would recommend getting a tenor pad but if those are to pricey, buy some ScoJo's and take tape and make circles (representing drums) on a counter or table. Not as good as a tenor pad or acual tenors but only about $13. and don't be nervous do your best im a sophmore marching with 2 seniors and i can do just as good as them, just practice practice practice!

To answer your question on what's better, actual tenors is alot better. The feel is 100% accurate and you can also work on rimshots ( I learned this after MY tenor audition)
