Beautiful! Don't forget to put something under the pedals or they'll stain that light-colored carpet.

Actually, if you look very closely in the last pic you can see the black stain from the last kicker i had there.

Very cool! You know how some cars look fast, even when they're sitting still? Well, that kit looks loud even when no-one's playing it.

Nothing too spectacular. It's a really old (2 years+) set of Planet Z cymbals. 14" Hats, 20" Ride. The right hand crash is a ZXT Titanium 18" Medium Thin Crash, and the left is one I borrowed from our local church for a gig, its a 16" Zildjian Bronze something or other.

Nothing to special, but they do the job ok.

Speaking of the ZXT, it has a crack in it. And it needs replacing.

you think they sound nice now? get some good heads on there and they will be awesome. i really think pearl should offer better heads w/ the session line.
i think the crappy sounding protones turn away potential buyers when they play them on a showroom floor.

Yeah, that's a fair point. I'm looking at replacing all the tom heads with Remo and the bass with one of the Evan's heads with the dampening ring.

Oh, so many things to get and not enough money :(

ever try a Remo Powerstroke 3? I have one of those on my kick drum, with an Evans EQ pad inside....its absolutely thunderous....and great resonance, too

the e-mad is ok. but i like the aquarian superkick II, and with a killer kick like that i would not use ANY other muffling.

I haven't actually heard of the Aquarian Superkick II. I just googled it then and from what I can gather it's basically the same as the Evan's Muffling heads. Except they mention something about a free-floating system.

Could you clarify a little more funky?

If you have a head with a muffling system, but don't use the muffling system, what makes the head any different from a standard 2 ply head without a muffling ring?

I've just replaced the batter head of the bass with a Remo Weatherking Ebony Head, with a Remo Double Falam Slam Pad that I had on my old bass drum.

It sounds fatter, and more meaty already.

Now to replace the snare and tom heads...
