so ive been thinking about some of these things.. which do you think is better? triplet diddles or an exercise with just four sixteenth notes then four diddled sixteenth notes repeated? i like them both but which do you prefer?

I practice "Three Camps" for triplet diddles. I do a ladder for 16th note diddles. What I do is I play a 4/4 measure of 16th notes. I play 1e&a 2e&a 3e&a, then I diddle the last 4 16th notes. I repeat that 3 times for a total of 4 times. Then after playing that I got to
    1e&a 2e&a then diddle 3e&a 4e&a. I repeat that 3 times then go to 1e&a, then diddle
2e&a 3e&a 4e&a. After that I just do straight 16th note diddles for 4 measures.

I do really choose which one too practice. They're both pretty similar. It's good to know both though.

Measures 15-18 are going to be annoying for beginners LOL

But yeah, I sure do love Threes Camp, it's a very nice and steady way to focus on triplets and inner beats. Adding flams to the accents is also a mental exercise in which flamming and then playing the grace note after, it use to really confuse me. All in all, it's my favorite exercise since you can do so much with it.

Concentrate on diddle quality. Think perfect 32nd notes. Practice with metronome.

Stupid question here, but what does it mean to have a slash in the note?

The slash indicates a double bounce.

So is the double bounce is supposed to be like two 1/32nds?

I have a triplet roll excersize, but I can't put it up right now, because it's being under construction (The new one is being put up). I'll keep everyone posted with mine.

This reminded me of a lesson back in school we had called 5's.play 4 measures of 5 with diddles on the last note 5 times, then add a diddle and play it 5 times, and so on.I still warm up with that.

We have a thing we play in our band called Gooch for that, it's triplet based. I'll have to look around for it...
