Try to visit a music store and play some Roland, Yamaha, Pintech or Hart kits to get a feel for what you may be looking for, like or can afford. All these brands have entry level kits that may fit your criteria (ie, good brand and cheap). I'm not sure there's a module out there that doesn't have a headphone jack for silent playing (but I could be wrong). Good luck. ABC

CD, I am assuming that you are helping your music teacher by making some suggestions. Do you know what the budget will be? This can narrow down the suggestions.

CD, does the budget include an amp, or is the budget just for the drums themselves. If an amp has to be considered, it would narrow down the choices quite a bit.

CD, that's the first kit that came to mind in your teacher's price range. I think the Yamaha DTXpress IV is probably the best kit for you guys. The Roland, Alesis, and Hart kits are out of your range, and I'm just not sure of the Simmons kits in a school situation.

well today she told me casue of a repair we have to make to some other intsruments and some other costs that the price on the dtxplorer is what she wants to spend and ahes uncomfortable with simmons. so any thoughts on the dtxplorer kit? it seems like it would be good for my schools drummers with the timing features etc...
