I use 'em, I love 'em. The only problem, is that they get real dusty and wood chips from sticks get stuck to them. This isn't really a major problem, but it loses their stick, which can be easily solved by washing w/ cold water and hand soap, then their good as new!.

    They don't taste that great!!!

I use RemO's. Haven't tried the Moon Gel, yet, but I will soon!

I carry em in my stick bag in case I need them, but have rarely used them. When I have volume concerns (specifically playing in a smaller church) I generally use damping rings and focus on volume control when I play.

I only play at home and they help. I actually put them on top of e-rings. one on the small toms and two on the 16. 4 and a ring on the top for the snare and I can play along with the blues on the tv/stereo and not overpower it.

Moon Gel is good when you need just a little dampening. It stays puts, doesn't shift nor gets tangled with the drumstick. You can customize it by cutting into smaller pieces. Non-toxic, easy to use, easy to carry and washable too. I use a piece, if needed, on my floor tom to lessen the resonance just a bit.

I like them, it's so easy to move them around and they look much better than duct tape or black tape. I even use them on the cymbals.

Tried 'em and didn't like them. Over time they leave blue sticky residue on your drum heads. At the moment I use no external muffling at all, it's like those remO's and Evans E Rings, they leave your drums sounding completely dead

I find that surprising. I've used Moon Gels for as long as I can remember and never had a residue problem. Never knew they could be washed either. I'm going to go salvage all the old ones that are sitting around getting dirtier.

    Thanks for THAT tip!!

Yeah I used them for a time a few years ago and I believe you are supposed to take them off when not in use, but I didn't having not really read into them and left a bluey residue on the drumhead. I think if I took them off it wouldn't have occured actually

I have a few containers of MoonGel around here. I mostly use it on my snares just to dampen them a bit when needed. And a little soap and water does make them new again!

Well, you could try JELL-O...comes in a variety of colors, about the same consistency as the Gel and better tasting, too! Just kidding with you. Not everyone is going to like dampening their drums. I don't care for that either. However, I use a 16" floor tom and it does get a bit rambunctious and the Gel helps to calm it down.

I guess what I don't understand is, if I'm using them, why would I remove them? They are going to stay put until I replace the head. Maybe that's why the residue never bothered me.

I just checked the container and I see it's on there and after seeing it realized I had noted that before but all I can say is, when you get to be my age you
