I have seen vids of guys playin to 'minus tracks'. Where do you find these? Are they legal? How do you manage to mix in the music with the playing?
    Please, help...
    Thanks.
    Proudly playing:
    Doc Sweeney Drums
    A bunch of snares
    A bunch of cymbals

    Off-Set double pedals

I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!

If you are referring to drumless tracks, here ya go. (removed) It is all free, and I do believe it is fully legal or I would not have posted the link.

Now as far as mixing in your playing with the drumless track, you will need something to record your playing, you can go very basic and use the audio from a camera OR you can go better quality by recording your drums thru a mixer and recording software. Once you have a drum track recorded it is simply a matter of syncing the 2 parts together, I happen to use Nero SoundTrax to achieve this, but there are other programs, hope this helps.

    Enjoy.

Johnny, generally they are not legal and we usually don't allow links to them for that reason. More often than not, they use copyrighted material. That is one of the reasons why they are usually gone after awhile. Ascap or the record companies eventually catch up to them.

If you're interested in legal versions of drumless tracks you can click the link. You have to buy them but they're not expensive. The site is owned by Drum Bum so it helps support Drum Chat.

I've got three of the Turn It Up & Lay It Down CD's, and they're great for getting the feel. I got mine through Drum Bum, and they're good people to deal with.
