Stokes...Regardless of the grip you use keep this in mind: 1. The tips of the sticks are to form a 90 degree right angle in the middle of the snare drums head. 2. Stick height of both hands is to be uniform. 3. Keep both elbows in and next to your side so that your wrists and forearms "Play" the sticks. 4. Accented notes are played by raising the forearm so that the stick is pointing straight up. 5. Keep the shoulders set and squared...as it is now, you are tilting to one side and that is making your stick work off balance. it appears that you are favoring your RH over the LH. That is normal and has to be worked on. If you have the time, check You Tube for Drum Corps videos and Rudimental Drum solos...watch these closely!!
There's a lot to be said for Time Honored tradition and value.

A lot more subtle dynamic range in certain music situations, light jazz for example, as compared to the matched grip.

Pay close attention to your grip, arm and wrist position Stokes as Frank mentioned, also in your matched grip watch that little pinky.

A private teacher or finding a good Trad grip player would be pretty critical right now for you.

    all the best.
