Yeah, that's not even fair...lol he made the double kick sound like a wind up toy it was so fast.
Love Gavin's playing!!
Tight grooves. Cool breaks and transitions. Tasty speed when called for.
Purcupine Tree is awesome!!
Proudly playing:
Doc Sweeney Drums
A bunch of snares
A bunch of cymbals
Off-Set double pedals
I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!
Yes he is great. I also have always liked Phil Collins, his drumming comes threw as very musical. But just my 1 1/2 cents. Nuff said
I love Chad Wackerman's playing.

Your title say musical yet every one is talking about technical drummers, some of my favorites I will admit.
When I think of musical drummers I think of guys like:
- Levon Helm - The Band
- Jim Keltner - Everybody ;-)
- Nigel Olsen - Elton John
- Steve Bowman - Counting Crows, Thier first album
I also love Bozzio's work. Black Page owns.....

Good point, RM... A very musical, but non-technical drummer I enjoy listening to is Steve Gorman from The Black Crowes. I love the blues and I think he has very tasty chops. He knows when to kick back and groove and also when to take the driver's seat and drive the band hard and heavy.

Gavin Harrison is my favorite drummer right now. Wackerman is also a monster behind the kit.
Here are a couple others that are very inspiring.

Great drummers all indeed. But, I would like to offer one of my favorites as a most music drummer playuing jazz and jazz/Latin...Mr. Alvin Queen. This clip from You Tube is the Kenny Drew Trio playing St. Thomas and having a blast with it. Listen to how Alvin incorporates his solo playing into the Calypso style and especially how he comes out of it while introducing us back to the song. Enjoy!!
There's a lot to be said for Time Honored tradition and value.

My favorite drummers are Neil Peart and Buddy Rich. Obviously, I am a HUGE Rush fan...
I feel so alone, gonna end up a big 'ole pile them bones...
gavin is a very musical drummer. although not in that video i don't think. it was just kinda an aimless ramble. i'd say without a doubt neil peart is the most musical drummer. he plays the drums in a different way than anyone else.
one of his most beatiful and tactfully crafted parts ever. very musical
