Recently my sister-in-law made this statement: " It's amazing that drummers can drum to music yet I've never met one that can dance to music."

Here's the question. How many of you on DC can dance? I don't mean the flopping around you do after a few beers and such. I mean can you actually move a lady around the floor with the correct foot work and all?

I for one cannot, but it's something that I wish I knew how to do.

    Lets hear from you

    all the best...

just like playing an instrument or anything else, that kind of dancing requires learning and practice

I've been country dancing (two step, waltz, etc.) since I was about 10. I was dancing long before I was a drummer.

I dance a little. I think dancing improves my sense of rhythm.

My rational side says this all the time. I look at all the good dancers that can't drum. But the other side of me kinda wishes I could. For one thing, ladies love a guy that can dance.

I can dance and I've been told I'm good. But ironically, I don't like to, not in front of people anyway. I'd rather hide behind my drums.

I can and do every chance I get . When we were young and growing up our parents made all of us participate in a Mexican Folklorico dance group . My only sister became an educator in Mexican Folklore and my two younger brothers continue to this day . My eldest brother Izzy is a classical/flamenco guitarist and I a drummer . My brother Frank is the only one who didn't keep at it . He joined the Navy .
During our breaks at the gigs if there is a dj I go out and dance . It's part of what I love about playing out and it's great fun . And it helps cultivate fans..regulars for our gigs .

I'm a great dancer. I make all the dudes on the dance floor jealous when I'm out there "cutting the rug" cause I make them all look bad. Women look at me dancing and say, "Wow...look at him go!"....then the darn alarm clock goes off.

That's a good one Rich. You had me a bit jealous till you said the alarm went off.

I took ballroom dancing classes with the Mrs. back a few years ago. I can pretty much fake my way through a waltz, two-step, free-style, line dancing, etc.

I think dancing is good for you. It's good exercise, the ladies love it and plus it's just kind of fun to do. I used to be very embarrassed. Once I took the ballroom dance classes, I actually found that my self consciousness just went away.
