    Default Same lug loosening itself

Hey all, I realize this could be a very newbie question but here goes:

Is there anything "normal" about one lug coming loose right where I hit rimshots? It is the only lug doing it and I swapped the screw for another one, same thing happens.

I just found it odd, started thinking it might be due to the rimshots slacking the hoop for a slpit second and letting the screw vibrate itself loose.

It's a bronze PDP snare, not the highest quality but I like the sound. Kind of hoping I won't have to change the whole lug....

    Thanks!

Yes, loosing a tuning rod while playing rim-shots is a common occurrence. Invest in these: Gibraltar SC-GLL Lug Locks - 6-pack (less than $6.00 USD for a 6- pack). Also lubing the lug housing will also help keep the lugs from falling out if you don't use the lug locks.

yeah I'm also a heavy hitter and one of my favorite snares is notorious for coming loose.

I use the Hendrix Sleeve's on all my drums & snare's & these have eliminated any rod creep

I have a 10 lug snare and I have to tighten the lug every time I play. Very annoying. I’m a heavy rimshotter

It's an 8 lug. Will definitely try one of these solutions! Thanks guys.

They really are great. I was hesitant at first but they just work. Now have them on all kits & snares

I just get my roadie to hold it in place when I'm playing.

Happens all the time to me. First thing I do after every gig is to check the floor under the snare to be sure I'm not leaving one behind.
