Gracias! I found an hour or so today to take it for an initial test run with the rest of the kit. Some photos, but of course:

I used to have this ride! I was nowhere near being in the budget for having multiple rides, so I sold it and my A Custom Ping Ride to get something more versatile, A K Custom Hybrid ride, and eventually what I have now, the Sand Ride. I'd love to find my way back to the dry ride some time next year. Check out my funky old setup...

Double rides... I didn't stick with this setup for too long.

Back when I used to take lessons my teacher had two rides on the kit- an A Rock and a K... I forget what, exactly. What shortcomings did you find with the dry? I noticed it was not as loud as the others, but it actually encourages me to watch the overall dynamics. Volume has never really been difficult for me to achieve.

    Thanks.

I keep changing things around though.I think I finally found how I want my kit set up to where it is more comfortable to play.Takes a little more but it doesn't look like it's all bunched up,room to breath now. (and add more toys)

I am going to try this again lol. This is my new to me set. I just started taking lessons and was going to hold off buying a set for a bit. I found this deal on CL. It is the set i was looking at buying in the store lol. For 500 i could not pass it up! Snare stand is busted so i will deal with that today! I could always use some advice if you see anything wrong as this was my first time setting a kit up!

That's a great kit Brian. I'm assuming it's the maple version, and if so, it's the same kit I have - ok, mine's the Deep Amber finish.

I would suggest changing the position of the ride toms to get them a little closer together, and angled the same way. Something like this:

I've since gotten a rack, and you can really see how uniform I keep them:

It is the maple kit. That pic was before I had moved them in. Your pic is a huge help and I just need to play them to get a feel I imagine.

Well, tonight was the first time I was able to test the new acquisition with other players.

While it has excellent ping, quick decay, and almost no wash, this is a case of too much of a good thing. I'm going to return it Sunday and hopefully exchange it for perhaps an A Rock, Ping, or perhaps Sweet.

When I went shopping I had in mind a 20" K Heavy (a la Chad Gracey) or an A Rock or Sweet (two rides I liked that I had taken lessons on). I would be asking this ride to do something that it simply was not designed for and for that, mea culpa.

Cool! I might still be able to add an 8" tom then.
