Here they are, 16 and 17" AAX Concept crash, have not had a chance to play them yet but will put em on practice kit tomorrow and give em a go before a gig on 2/2/19. Paid $149 for the 16" and $118 for the 17"
I will be using a 20" regular K ride and 14" K custom Hybrid hats till I can get a Paragon ride in the future.

    I'm definitely a Sabian player....
The only non Sabian cymbals I have are the Wuhan 8" splash and little Wuhan 12" China that I got free at Sam Ash for some purchases years ago. That will change eventually too.
Looking to unload my 22" Paragon Ride for a 22" HH Power Bell Ride here eventually too.
    Currently have:
    18" AAX Xplosion Crash
    18" HHX Xplosion Crash
    16" XSR Fast Stax
    14" HHX Power Hats
19" Paragon China (love this one)
22" Paragon Ride (for now)---like it but not doing what i want it to do....thing's a tank though.
might eventually get an AA Holy China eventually too.

I said it this way... Looks like the CEO's kid went to the office for "take your kid to work day" and made that as a finger painting.
Then someone found and said... we should use this!

I took these cymbals to church Wednesday night, and the worship leader and my son the bass player said they sounded good.

Sabian ride and crashes, Paiste hats
    20" AAX Dry Ride
    18" SR2 Thin Crash
16" AA Thin Crash (20th Anniversary Model)
    13" Alpha Medium Hats

This leaves me with two sets of Sabians.
    Set One
    20" HHX Evolution Ride
    19" AAX X-plosion Crash
    17" AAX X-plosion Crash
14" SR2 Hats (medium top, heavy bottom)

    Set Two
    21" AA Bash Ride
18" XS20 Medium-Thin Crash (sounds way better than it should)
    17" AA Medium-Thin Crash
    14" XS20 Medium Hats

I also have two AA 16" crashes that I am not using now, although I may change my mind. Peace and goodwill.

I have a mix of Zildjian and Sabian. Slightly weighted toward Zildjian in quantity just because they've been around since I started in the mid 60s.

Mixing is fine if your buying used or transitioning from one brand to another. It will still sound great, but here's the caveat. They all make great cymbals in a wide variety of sounds that cater to nearly every possible demand. So why mix then? If I can find the same sound I want from all the major makers and for around the same price then why mix? I can get every sound my little heart desires and have matching logos too. Sacrificing aesthetics for zero increase in sound doesn't make sense to me. Imagine using a five piece kit with five high end drums from five different companies. It would sound great, but look like **** and for no reason because they all make great products. There is no reason not to match.

I don't care about logos. They get polished off anyway. (Oh the horror...right?) It's the sound I care about and no two cymbals sound alike. When I find a cymbal that I like I'm not willing to hunt through hundreds of another brand to only sort of approach the same sound.
Besides, the only difference between Sabian and Zildjian IS the logo and that they are made in different buildings a few hundred miles apart.
I would not mix any European cymbals in with the ones made by the Zildjian family because they are just too different.

Well polishing the logos off is one way to make them match I've done it myself, but they were all Sabian anyway. I just like that look. It's clean. Right now I have two sets, both Sabian. One is all HH and HHX, the other is all Artisan and I'll be damned if I'm going to polish those logos off. Those are some pricey ink stamps.

I guess the big designation letters being different doesn't bother you.

The AAX Explosion crashes are fire, for sure. Digging the X-Cellerator hats and the 21 inch dry ride as well.

Haven't put this one on the kit to play in sequence with the others, but I'm hearing great things about it. Just have to get past this "social distancing" in order to hear how it is with the band.
